Çatal Hüyük

Gilles Deleuze uses the discovery of the Çatal Hüyük settlement as an example to challenge linear evolutionary theory, since the evidence of archaic empires existing before the invention of agriculture shows that it is states that choose to constitute and divide land into lots — not the other way around, as was previously thought. There is no linearity between gatherers–hunters–herders–farmers–etc., but rather constant becomings and flows that overlap and collide.
